ISO is one of the three pillars of photography. The other two being Shutter speed and Aperture. ISO is all about light sensitivity. How sensitive your camera is to the available light source. Your camera has a little component inside of it that's called image sensor also called senor. This object is responsible for gathering light and transforming it into an image. To capture images in a low light setting you could increase the sensitivity, but with increased sensitivity comes lower quality. The lower quality pictures have what some people call background noise, others call it grainy. Every camera has a something called " Base ISO " which is the lowest ISO with the highest quality.
